Ein gefundenes Stück Teppich, das einem Maler (und Anstreicher) als Unterlage beim Streichen einer Fassade diente, wurde so beschnitten dass es zu einem scheinbar komponierten abstrakten Gemälde wurde. Der Ausschnitt erfolgte in diesem Fall also nicht nur durch die Kamera, sondern schon vorausschauend durch das Teppichmesser. Der Verlust an Farbigkeit, der durch Verwendung eines Schwarz-Weiss-Films einherging, kann als weiterer Schritt in Richtung Abstraktion gelesen werden.
Der Titel „Painters (still) Painting“ wiederum bezieht sich auf den Dokumentarfilm „Painters Painting“ von Emile de Antonio aus dem Jahr 1972, der sich der New Yorker Kunstszene und der Entwicklung des abstrakten Expressionismus in Amerika widmete.

A piece of carpet, that was used by a painter for covering the floor when painting a facade, was cropped into what appeared to be a composed abstract painting. So in this case the cropping was not only done with the groundglass of the camera, but also with the carpet knife in advance. The loss of color associated with the use of black and white film can be understood as a further step towards abstraction.
The title „Painters (still) Painting“ in turn refers to the documentary film „Painters Painting“ by Emile de Antonio from 1972, which was dedicated to the New York art scene and the development of abstract expressionism in America.
